Women's Empowerment Wednesdays :: 99-Year-old Doreetha Daniels graduates from College

The Great Depression.  World War II.  The Civil Rights Movement.  The election of the first Black president.  etc.  Doreetha Daniels has seen it all.  Last week, she saw a new accomplishment.  Ms. Daniels graduated from College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, CA, receiving an Associates degree in social sciences.  College of the Canyons released the following statement::

To those who may have wondered why Daniels would pursue such a goal so late in life, Daniels simply explained she had always lived life to the fullest, and achieved many things, but never completed her education.

How inspiring is this.  At 99, this young lady continued to follow her dream and saw it through til the end.  We are much younger and when constant adversity and obstacles come our way.. are ready to throw in the towel or change the scene.  Ms. Daniels had multiple strokes in between her efforts of achieving the degree since 2009 and continued to press forward.  Now her dream is complete.  She is a prime example of Pharrell's quote '... you can do it too.'
Hold your head high, Queens.  Don't give up.
