Trevante Rhodes is a stand out actor in any role he plays: Moonlight, Bird Box, The U.S. v Billie Holiday, and The Predator just to name a few. Now Rhodes' steps to the plate with delivering the role of the one and only IRON Mike Tyson.
MIKE is an HULU original 8 episode series, chronicling an illustration of Tyson's life from adolescence to adulthood, including very familiar significant moments. The casting for Don King and Robin Givens, also, seems to be spot on. Creator/Screenwriter Steven Rogers and creative team, who produced HULU's I, Tonya, gives us a sneak peek of the story they brought to life. Watch the first look trailer after the jump!
Unfortunately, when this was initially announced, it did NOT receive a blessing from the real Mike Tyson. He provided in a now deleted instagram statement, "Hulu's announcement to do an unauthorized mini-series of the Tyson story without compensation, although unfortunate, isn't surprising". It was, also, then later announced that an authorized Mike Tyson series is underway with Jamie Foxx playing the role of Tyson; directed by Antoine Fuqua and Executive Produced by Foxx and Martin Scorcese.
Unsure of where this stands now, but I hope he and HULU have worked out their differences and are rewarding him with a hefty compensation. MIKE will release exclusively on HULU, August 25th, 2022. #MikeonHulu
