The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. will present a special one-night-only event celebrating Hip Hop and Jazz in lieu of the respective icons: J Dilla and Duke Ellington. Led and conducted by Derrick Hodge, the Black Radio Orchestra and Grammy-Award winning Robert Glasper will hit the stage for the Duke x Dilla Celebration.
Tickets for the March 30, 2024 event are available HERE.
The following month, April 19 to be exact, 'The Rakim & DJ Jazzy Jeff & Ravi Coltrane Project" will take place; to include performances by all three legends. Both events are part of the Kennedy Center's Hip Hop & Festival launch.
We are elated to have incredible musical vanguards such as Rakim, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Ravi Coltrane, Robert Glasper, Derrick Hodge, and Igmar Thomas's Revive Big Band, performing as part of this year's festival uplifting the artistic contributions of icons such as Duke Ellington, J Dilla, and John Coltrane. It is also extremely humbling to dedicate it to our dear friend Meghan Stabile, a creative genius whose legacy lives on through all of us.
- Simone Eccleston, Director of Hip-Hop Culture & Contemporary Music.
