Black History Month Wrap Up- Feb. 25-28

The Last Day of Black History Month… Sigh. This month really flew by fast. The children’s ministry at church put on a quick presentation during service about Black History/facts. They did great! Especially one girl. She had to be no older than 7 or 8 and her reading was
P H E N O M E N O L. I was extremely proud to see that (even though I don’t know her and not any kin to her). Anywho.. I hope you guys enjoyed learning facts for every day of this month. Don’t just limit the education of history to this month… but embrace all year round. Let us NOT forget.

On this day of February 28th in 1990, Philip Emeagwali was awarded the Gordon Bell Prize the computing version of the Nobel Peace Prize for solving one of the 20 most difficult problems in the computing field.

February 27, 1988- Figure Skater Debi Thomas was the first Black to win a medal at the Winter Olympic Games. She was awarded the Bronze Medal.

February 26, 1966- Andrew Brimmer was the 1st African American governor of the Federal Reserve Board (appointed by then President, Lyndon B. Johnson)

February 25, 1948- Martin Luther King, Jr. was ordained as a Baptist minister.

PEACE... POWER...
