Golden Ticket!

I’VE GOT THE GOLDEN TICKET!!

(sings)… “Cause I’ve got the Golden Ticket! , It’s ours Charlie!” – Grandpa Joe, Willa Wonka
It’s finally here. And of course… I found a way through all of my madness to get one. I can’t help it.. I love the guy.

Look at it... (Gloria Carter's voice from December 4th) Isn't that special??? :D

"I got into art about 5 years ago or so. I got a couple [of Warhol's]. I have one of the Rorschach over my fireplace in my living room," Jay-Z revealed to Howard Stern. "It's all about art. I try to buy things that resonate with me….."

Side commentary : Now I hope the Rorschach art he was referring to over his fireplace is STRICTLY in reference to Andy Warhol’s . I’ve seen other pieces of Rorschach art… and it kinda creeped me out (well not really… but it is nothing I would want hanging up in my living room.. bedroom.. Any room :-/)

Hov’s admiration for Warhol's art work helped him get the rights to use the iconic painter's famous work of art for the cover of Decoded."We called the Andy Warhol estate, they cleared it one day which was amazing," – Jay-Z
Creditors: allhiphop.com, cnn.com
Side commentary: I've had an UNBELIEVABLE day.... Just terrible. This was the only thing to make me smile...

NOW….

Last night please spare me the reminder of embarrassment my Skins had with that terrible performance on MNF Hov gave and EXCLUSIVE interview/conversation with Prof. Cornel West

and Paul Holdengräber at New York Public Library (a SOLD OUT affair) on his book DECODED and the Importance of Context in Hip Hop. I watched it from start to finish and just as excited as if I was there. Incase you missed it, you can watch again here:
oh FYI.. it’s almost a 2hr long stream

He was also featured on CNN discussing....
well i'll let you watch.. :)

Again I ask...

Who you know like Hov????

Understanding... (Women's Wednesday)

After a while… a woman gets tired… fed-up.. frustrated.. all thee above . A woman like myself doesn’t ask for much. Is showing affection, caring, and at LEAST attempting to understand too much to ask for?? What do you do when everything you say seems to go unheard, unnoticed, and misunderstood??... unless it’s derogatory (a reaction seems to happen then *sideeye)??

It’s the toughest to deal with. How do you continue to make it through? To stick by someone regardless of their tasteless flaws (i.e. lying to you, belittling your character etc.) because of their own insecurities; stick by someone regardless of their situation (having their back to the umpteenth degree); and most of all make it your main goal to understand this person. To endure all of those things strictly out of love… {Ladies put on a façade if you want “oh that’s not love.. that’s stupidity”… but look at it this way … you ALL have been there before.. and you ALL know that if you did not LOVE the person… the stupidity would not have come into play } with the exception of ppl who just endure because they are afraid to be alone… a whole ‘nother story

To display your love for this person unconditionally no matter who’s around, bend over backwards for them in several ways which they don’t deserve, and always be there even when they’re wrong……. To do all of these things and the only time get “attention” when something negative happens or when they try to point a finger at you? Not cool at all. Otherwise if something positive is flowing…. Showing that I’m unappreciated is your course…. And you’re getting an A in the class.

Ladies this has been on my mind today. We can’t help but nurture… but after a while… is the constant nurture worth the constant hurt?? Now we do have some good men out there ….somewhere but this isn’t about them. It’s about women who use to know a good man but somewhere along the way.. he got comfortable and let the ways of the world consume him.

Me and this thing called love… I’m not really a fan. Extreme heartache… bitterness.. and every other negative thing you can thing of has grown on my heart from it. Not just from men… but from relationships with ppl period. As much as I yearn to be loved… It seems I’ve experienced a hell of a lot more of the downside.. and it shouldn’t be that way.

I have never been so misunderstood in my life compared to these days. When I say what I mean… no one LISTENS… and when I’m playing around & joking… they want to take me seriously. And even most… when I say/do positive shit… no reaction, appreciation.. nothing. But oh if it’s derogatory… best believe I’m getting all the texts, calls, and e-mails. Smh. You can’t imagine what goes through my head after a while…
“They ain’t crazy.. they don’t know how insanity feel”- Kanye’

“Breaking Point” is the only phrase I know to describe what it seems I am going through right now with EVERYONE. I am a STRONG, EMPATHETIC, and INTELLIGENT woman who deserves 10x more than what I actually get (from several). And you know what… quite frankly.. I’m TIRED OF IT (specifically from certain ppl).
“I done gave love and got no commission… (not even a little)- Fantasia

All we want is for someone to understand and to feel loved & appreciated. (“I understand”- Dwele , “Woman”- Raheem DeVaughn) Is that so hard? ...
"What I need from you is un-der-stand-ing"- Xscape

To my sisters & women out there who are feeling kinda down today about their (love) situation…. Keep your head up… dry your eyes… and show off your beautiful faces. You deserve better…. God has something better in store for all of us…. Ladies you’re loved.

“I get no raises .. or no benefits.. to stay with this establishment… I’m gone………….This is my Two Weeks Notice"

Women's (Empowerment) Wednesdays...

It's tough being a strong good woman out here, I tell ya. You get used and abused by so many nowadays.... Men, friends, co-workers etc. Just flat out not appreciated and taken for granted. I won't give up the faith though. My day will come....
One day...

Until then........

I have songs like these that uplift me :-)

Change...

“...Well obviously George Bush done wrote his autobiography and he said the worst thing to happen to him was Kanye calling him a racist. So hide your 9/11, Hide your Katrina, and Hide your mission accomplished banner because you can run and publish that , double u (“Dubya”)...”

- Antoine Dodson, on the George Lopez Show

I saw the post for this interview on Necole Bitchie’s website… and it disturbed me that majority (not all) of the comments were strictly on his sexuality and his “ghetto” persona… and NOT on what he said (specifically THIS quote).

Call it what you want…it’s not unknown facts: yes he IS from the Ghetto… yes he IS a homosexual… and???? (#justsaying) Is that un common nowadays?? I didn’t think so

Yes he is known from his “15 minutes of fame” on the news after a man entered his sisters bedroom through the window of their home and attempted to rape her.. and quickly became famous for the quote “Hide yo Kids… Hide yo Wife”. But let’s stop right there. That is his environment and clearly a product of it. What were you REALLY expecting? (plus even if he said something "grammatically and politically" correct, the news would have cut that part out anyway as they do with any random black interviewee who seems to say something intelligent)

From that point until now… Have you seen him ever again on tv looking that type of way ?? (hair uncombed, anything on etc.)… No. Or even talking the same way…. Yes the accent is still there… but poise.. definitely different. Do ppl notice that? Nah… No credit for that.. (At least it's SOME type of improvement and not the whole "this is me rough and rugged" persona as some rappers and ppl i know tend to have, thinking they are "keeping it real".. but in reality.. looking completely Ignorant.) They've done the same with Keyshia Cole & Fantasia (to name a few). They have come a LONG way as far as their character, speech, style of dress... everything. Still.. they get no credit for that either. It's always something....

So, the media took his news interview and ran with it and now he’s making money off of it… but let’s stop and think...

Kim Kardashian (Sex tape.. now her own reality show) …Teyana Taylor (I’m a fan and she DOES have talent, but let’s be real she took the Sweet 16 exposure and RAN with it)…. Taylor Swift (already popular… but def used the “Kanye’ Incident” to boost her career and exposure) ..MC Hammer YEA I SAID IT trying to regain his career back off of Hov lyrics about him. I can go on and on.

Is it different when these ppl have done it bc they are already “so-called” accepted (in other words financially stable/elite) , but a homo sexual black man from the hood was invited to do interviews, songs (amongst other things) after his news debut and ppl see something wrong with that? You wouldn’t take that “come-up” to get out of the hood, be on tv, and get a few bucks???? yea that’s what I thought

It completely disturbed me that no one EVER notices the positives. Back to the quote. Dodson actually made a valid point. George Bush is so concerned with proving that he is NOT a racist by claiming his most memorable moment during presidency was Kanye' calling him one. Let's be real... what are you trying to get pity?? That was your most memorable moment in your presidential terms?? Really?? So 9/11.... Hurricane Katrina... etc.. none of that mattered huh?? Or shall i say... is significant enough to you to be your Most memorable moment?? Hmm... Dodson stated this (of course in his own way, quote above) on a national tv show.... and the point was no mystery. However, no one seemed to pay it any mind. I guarantee you however... if Kanye' would've said it or let's use Hov, for example, the response to it would have INDEED been a whole 'nother Ball Game.

Now in NO WAY am I praising this guy for his fame and being in the industry (not as an idol for kids to look up to or anything), BUT with all the criticisms… offer him some positive shit… I mean damn.. give the man a little credit for doing/saying something right. By that I mean….if You think he is so “ghetto” and “uneducated”… offer him or present him with something that would help better himself. The best way to uplift is to point out a positive first. Shoot. I think already we are seeing a slight progression (just by his neat presentation {look at that hair improvement! Lol } and like previously stated.. poise in interviews)

Ppl nowadays so quick to talk shit about ppl saying this and that… but never point out the positives or at least offer some guidance etc. that would help the person. All I have been hearing about is how he is contributing to the bad perception of the black community. Funny while you all are saying this…. What are YOU doing to change the perception??

Don't worry.... I'll wait.......
