“The concept for the song came from an experience during last year’s Coachella Music Festival. We were invited to the festival by some of our white homies. During the weekend, we stayed at their mansion and just witnessed all the crazy shit they were doing. At one point, we even heard one of them yell out ‘nigga’ when a Kendrick Lamar’s song came on. Ultimately, ‘Rich White Friends’ is just our view of what’s going on in the world today, everyone’s story is different, this is ours.”- OverDoz.
I'm sure we can all relate to that particular encounter in one way or another. In my case, I can relate to the 'nigga' portion at concerts and so forth. The visual piggy backs off of the initial concept with a captive story line chronicling a day of OverDoz hanging with a preppy frat. Vibrant and fun, but very much gravitated towards focal points that hit reality on the head.
