Time Warp... 2020: Almeda | Solange x Playboi Carti x The Dream #BlackHistoryMonth

Brown liquor, brown liquor
Brown skin, brown face
Brown leather, brown sugar
Brown leaves, brown keys
Brown freckles, brown face
Black skin, black braids
Black waves, black days
Black baes, black things
These are black-owned things
Black faith still can't be washed away...

As the 2024 Black History Month comes to an end, forget all the noise.  Just take a second to embrace... and be PROUD.

Solange Knowles 'Saint Heron' Launches a Glassware Collection

kevin mazur, getty images

I think coming from a dance background, there is a song and dance; you’re constantly having to move and you’re having to follow the glass. You’re having to intuitively make movement and sort of surrender to this material so that you can get to the finish line. Otherwise, it sort of freezes a moment in time. So I felt like it was a really good practice and surrender for me. And from there I began to think of ways to create objects out of the material, and I started to just gather ideas and sketches and build the design for the collection.

Saint Heron introduces us to "Small Matter Art Objects: Handblown Glassware 001".  This is a collaborative collection with black glassblower, Jason McDonald.  The sculptural glasses designed by Solange through Saint Heron (design studio & gallery, Small Matter) aims to encompass light, color, movement, and form.

Solange's Saint Heron launches a digital library of Rare books by Black Authors

Solange. ForUsByUs.
her Saint Heron website has since relaunched into a library of rare books by black authors.  Through the website's portal, anyone in the U.S. can borrow a selection of 50 books curated by Rosa Duffy, who is the founder of Atlanta's For Keeps Books bookstore.  Genres available range from art to history to novels to poem collections and so forth.

“If you’re not invited into these [archives] or you don’t feel invited into these spaces—which Black folks are often not—you can feel like this stuff doesn’t belong to you, like you’re not allowed to put your hands on it, and it’s behind closed doors,”- Duffy.

We hope that by encountering these works, our community is inspired to further explore and study the breadth of artistic expression and the impact of Blackness in creative innovation throughout history...”

Just a sample of what to look for.  Loaners are able to check out one title each, with the loan lasting up to 45 days.  For detailed instructions on how the library works, see after the jump!

Creative Marketing: Solange takes over NYC for 'Saint Heron' release + Album stream..

Lamborghini Mercy.
This past Sunday afternoon, Solange exuded creativty once again (see Uncapped link below) for the promotion/trunk sale of new compilation album: Saint Heron. With an ostentatious design on the Lambo by artist Rashaad Newsome that was sure to turn heads, the sultry singer hit the streets for the debut album of her own label, Saint Records, donning all smiles. Via twitter & instagram, Solange let fans and media know what locations the 'trunk sale' would be taking place: 12PM- Studio Museum in Harlem | 2pm - Opening Ceremony in SoHo | 4pm- Habana Outpost in Brooklyn.

From the photos I've seen, it was a great turn out and loads of Fun! It seemed as if the trunk sale turned into an all out block party with folks double dutching & hula hooping, music blaring, bull horns and more. To view more photos of the event, Click Here. In the meantime, stream the album below. Enjoy

Video: Lovers In the Parking Lot | Solange

Left your heart behind
When I laid eyes and said I’m up and done...

New video from the awesome Solange Knowles. I had the pleasure of seeing her perform this track live, which lands on her True EP, at the Made in America festival this year. Shot in her hometown of Houston, TX... Ms. Knowles delivers a video nothing short than supa dope. Free spirit and creativity is always welcomed here :-). Check it out:

Solange Knowles- Uncapped @ Brooklyn Laundromat...

The second installment of Vitamin Water and FADER #uncapped series, stars the solo-angel herself…Solange Knowles.      Creatively, the ‘invite only’ show was held at Atlantic Super Wash Laundromat in Brooklyn; but you wouldn’t be able to tell with its converting to a neon light stage.  I think this is so cool @ whomever came up with the idea. Check out a few snap shots and videos of her performance below:

Favors| Solange Knowles

It's not new in any extent, as you can see below, but it was my first time hearing it and I've bumped it several times today.  Sol' is madly underrated.
