Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli Get Dapper for New AMIRI A/W 2023 Icon Campaign

Reflecting AMIRI’s long-standing relationship with music as an expression of cultural messaging and ideas, the campaign speaks to Black Star’s craft: the duo’s capacity to revolutionize old-school techniques through progressive flow and rhyme mirrors the collection’s artistry and silhouette.
-AMIRI brand statement

The popular AMIRI fashion brand has snagged the luminary rap duo comprised of Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli for their Autumn/Winter 2023 Icon campaign.  And they are looking extremely dapper may I add.  The creative direction is said to be inspired by the 90s Hip Hop layers that helped define founder Mike Amiri's L.A. upbringing.  Photographer Karim Sadli captures both Bey and Kweli in a terrific distinguished light.  Watch the official campaign ad after the jump!

Currently, Amerigo Gazaway has a new ‘Soul Mates’ series that continues the theme of his previous work in creating collaborations that never existed. Here's the first installment of the series. Well. done.

Time Warp... 2010 : Breakfast | Currensy x Mos Def

Circa 2010.
Every single time I hear this, I rap the song in its entirety with such enthusiasm like I'm performing it.... Don't pull up next to me in traffic while it's on.. so embarassing lol. All the elements just bring good vibes man. I don't think any album got as much play that summer in my car than Pilot Talk (although Ross 'Teflon Don' came really close). Spitta has been super consistent since. This one is in his top 10 songs for sure. Dope. Dope. Dope.

Black Jesus| Yasiin Bey (Prod. by. Mannie Fresh)

Is you been baptized?
Let the fish fry proceed…

The visioned images I have in my mind while listening to this song puts me in such a good state.  Powerful in many interpretive ways.  Might be too deep for some.. but nevertheless.. it’ll make the head nod.
Keep a look out for Manny and Mos Def’s (Yasiin Bey) upcoming project, OMFGODBKNOLA.

Yasiin Bey unsure that (Jay-Z) Barclays Center was a good idea...

“I was concerned about what the stadium’s presence in the community might do…”

It seems Yasiin Bey, formally known as Mos Def, has a few concerns about the Barclays center: the 675,000 sq. ft.,  $4.9 Billion dollar, stadium in Brooklyn that involved rapper Jay-Z as the front runner.  It seemed like such a good idea for the Brooklyn community.  In the words of “The Jeffersons”… movin on up!  Not quite.  Mr. Bey doesn’t seem to think so and has a few affirmed thoughts about where he thinks the direction the stadium may take the community.

Check out a few excerpts via TheJasmineBRAND

Now, rewind.  All of the “clarification” ,if you will, stemmed from Yasiin releasing a poem in reference to the Barclays center entitled “On.center.stadium.status”.   Read below:
