 I had just returned home from a grocery run Saturday before last only to discover a grocery store in Buffalo was shot up, specifically targeting and killing our people.  The thought alone was and is all around terrifying.  Here we are, just a little over a week later... feeling the grief of yet another mass shooting; this time targeting kids.  

I stay silent on a lot of sh-t, quiet as kept... word to Trademark da Skydiver.  Constantly watching MADNESS unravel in your community and throughout the country, while trying to keep a level head above water in your own personal life is exhausting.  Disconnecting into a drift of musical bliss has always been an outlet.  When folk refer to 'timeless music', this is a prime example.  Almost 50 years later and the relevancy of the lyrics is still there.  Gazing off...

Time Warp... 1973 :: Visions | Stevie Wonder

It has rained for four days straight with unseasonably cool weather. Cloudy days of mostly mellow tunes. This song falls on the incredibly great and my absolute favorite Stevie album, Innervisions. Just a quick history lesson. In 1974 at the Rainbow Theater in London, during a performance, Stevie explained this song is about a question he will forever pose.. about the visions of the things/places we only see in our minds. He went on to say that it's a shame we have to build a world of make believe in our souls and that people escape from reality by getting high. He shared with the audience that because the Supreme being gave him a chance to express musically so everyone can feel and understand those that are not able to speak on the microphone or talk to as many as he can... he will use it. Solidness right there. I just wanted to share that...

Seems the wisdom of man hasn't got much wiser...-Stevie Wonder

This post is a little different from my normal Motivation Mondays post, but it was on my heart so I couldn’t ignore. It dawned on me that most times one way or another… we are all so busy doing this and that… trying to get this and that… that we are not even paying any attention.. or giving thought to what’s really going on (think about it) . There are times where we actually need to STOP…reflect… and CHECK our perspective. We all need a reminder. These lyrics alone should relay the message I am trying to convey. Enlighten & humble yourselves this week ppl… YOU are the light. Don’t remain tied up in the whirlwind…
Seems to me that fools are even more foolish
Thinking of themselves and nobody else....
