{Personal Post} PHOTOS/VIDEOS: Roots Picnic 2023- Day 2

And we're back.  Day 2 started off with unsaid chaos, but we ball!  Anywho, today was just as fun!  The temps were cooler than the day before, but we were prepared this time.  Let's get into the details of Day 2...

Day 2, Let's go!

We were running late or so we thought.  Apparently... so was everyone else lol

By the time we got through the line, I had missed Little Brother and saw the tail end of Maverick City.

JT/City Girls

Caresha/City Girls

s.o. to them for continuing this event and getting doper each time.  the Sun looked like it wanted to come back out again, but that might've been the last time we saw it that day.

Chile the Dunkin Donuts stand was giving out unlimited free donuts.  A chocolate and blueberry munchkin pack.

You know I was happy.  lol

nwts.

Still sitting there.  Thinking about something?

Live art installation.

Shoe cam.

Come hereeee.

Message!

An interactive art installation.  I missed Kindred the Family Soul while standing in this line for about 45.  I've been to one of their concerts before, so I wasn't too upset, but I still wanted to see them again.
By the time we reached the front of the line, Ari Lennox was on the main stage.

They had a booth with props where you could recreate a classic album cover.  I started with Live.Love.A$AP (hence the shirt prop), but ended up selecting The Chronic.

Back for more. lol.  I deadass had 6 packs throughout the day smh.

DJ Drama started his set with snippets of tracks from his infamous mixtape run.  All the Jeezy joints had it TURNT.  Just like the day before, the sound was horrible at this stage.  It was just unreasonably loud and untuned.  You could barely hear the person next to you.  It was rockin tho!

Later in his set, he brought out the said 'friends'.   Boo-bonic of Philly's Most Wanted came out to 'Cross the Border'!! Mr. Man was missing but Boo held his own. He, also, did his verse from 'Please Don't Mind'. I've been following him for a while and if you don't know... fun fact... he's now an ARTist.

Gillie da Kid came out to his joint 'Get Down on the Ground'. I was in memory lane. Thennnnn Major Figgas came out to do 'Yea That's Us'; Gillie, Spade-O, and Ab-Liva to be exact. I met the entire group in 2000. They had a signing at Kemp Mill. I still have that poster somewhere...

Surprise Surprise... Fat Joe was the last of 'friends' to come out.  Drama started playing 'New York' so I suspected Ja Rule, BUT it ended up being Joey.

Black Thought, Busta Rhymes, and Eve were hitting the main stage around the same time Lucky Daye was set to go on this stage.  Her homegirl texted her and told us that they hadn't come on yet, so we stayed a while for 'Daye.  He is everything I thought he would be live...

Her friend lied -_-.  LOL.  Well, she never sent the follow up text to say hey they're on.  We ended up checking for ourselves because so much time had passed and sure enough... Eve was on stage.  We had missed Black Thought and Busta Rhymes, who I've seen before but she hadn't.

Bean.

We had a lot of drinks this day.  A LOT.

Feelin it'.

Drink 6 or 7?  Who knows.. cheers!  Usher's coming out

It is a reason he has a residency in Vegas.  He puts on a SHOW!  30 years in the game and hasn't missed a beat.  I sat down on our mat for a little bit because he was trying to bring me down lol.  The man did you got it bad, let it burn, and confessions back to back.  Tryna depress somebody lol.  Jazmine Sullivan and Eve came out to do 'You Got Me' with Black Thought.  I never knew until that night that I needed to hear 'Throwback' with a live band.  They hit the Dionne sample in between and oh my Lord.  I jumped up and reacted so quick.  (If you listen close, you can hear me react and her laugh at it).  It was INCREDIBLE.
Later, my senses started tingling to an EWF sample I knew they were about to hit with 'Bad Girl'.  Needless to say, Usher with the live band??  CHEF'S. KISS.

This was the 'let out' crowd we were trying to avoid the day before.

Day 2 was a success!

I got some footage for ya'll, including that Usher 'Throwback' moment I mentioned.  Hope you all enjoy virtually as we did physically.  Until next time...

XOXO.
