Movie Soundtrack Spotlight: Why Do Fools Fall In Love?

 

This was the first time we saw Mel B. breakout as a solo artist and away from her Spice Girl persona.  The year was 1998.  Soundtracks were still a very important piece of the film, which now seems to be a lost art.  Why Do Fools Fall In Love had a star studded cast of Halle Berry, Larenz Tate, Vivica Fox, and Lela Rochon.  The original music soundtrack was heavily influenced by Missy Elliott and Timbaland.   Now during this time, both artists had an established reputation for innovative and futuristic music videos as well as production.  That translated to the albums' lead music videos and overall sound, something completely different from the norm.  Way ahead of its time.

Arguably my favorite Destiny's Child song.  Top 3 for sure.

I've said this many times during debates or regular music discussions and I will say it again.  Missy reigns supreme when it comes to innovative stand out visuals.  Consistently throughout her entire videography, your attention is captured from beginning to end.   Each and every time.  The icon is back with a new single and video.  Watch below::

Obey Your Verse:: Missy Elliott, Tupac Shakur, & J.Cole on new SPRITE can series

SPRITE has returned for their second 'Obey Your Verse' campaign, this time around featuring Tupac, J. Cole, and Missy Elliott.  As with the last campaign, this series will highlight a total of 16 cans with lyrics from each artist on their own.

KILLING it like she never left.  In less that 12 hours of premiering the video, it already has nearly 1.5 million views.  Talk about a knockout.  Missy is iconic in more ways than one, but the energy and creativity she brings to videos?  consistently?  NO ONE is seeing her.  A class all by herself.  Add the visual for this addictive jam to the collection::

Photos: American Vintage Ads reimaged with Aaliyah, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Pharrell, B.I.G., and more ...

I saw a few of these the other day, but finally got a chance to review the entire collection. Wow. French art director and designer, David Rendon, unleased his vision of re-imaged American vintage ads and marketing posters using song titles related to the music artists' in the form of a theme. The poster series is titled 'Ads Libitum'. Creativity executed to awesomeness. View below::
