Time Warp... 1999: Neck Uv Da Woods | Mystikal x Outkast

Mary mary mary.
This song has been stuck in my head for like two days now.  Still one of the coldest eccentric productions I've ever heard.  Every one held their own with their verse.  A flawless record.
Btw... RIP Grandma.  Miss you.

Sit Down and Let Me Learn You Somethin :: The Organized Noize Documentary recap - "The Art of Organized Noize" #HipHopDocs

I didn’t want to post about this until I actually watched it, and I finally did last week.
Producers. Pioneers. Legends. Organized Noize- comprised of Rico Wade x Ray Murray x Sleepy Brown.  The documentary taps into their early beginnings of The Dungeon (Family)… ‘finding’ Outkast and ‘creating’ the Goodie Mob etc.  The moment that changed it all- a deal with Laface (yep, Pebbles appears in this).  Rising to the top becoming one of the most requested groups to work with.  Did ya’ll know they are responsible for ‘Waterfalls’/TLC and ‘Don’t Let Go’/En Vogue????? DOG.

With fame and money, came the fun and smiles, but with every joy… there is pain.  The group they ‘put on’ and had always worked with from the very beginning… Outkast.. decided not to work with them on their ‘Speakerrboxx/Love Below’ album.  This one album turned out to be Outkast’ most successful that went on to go diamond AND win a grammy for Album of the Year.  You’ll find that Rico Wade is UPSET about that still… and that they/Organized Noize didn’t even get a thank you in the speech for their success.  In the middle of this story, Jimmy Iovine appears.  You know what happens when Jimmy’s involved…

With depression from success disintegrating, comes the welcome wagon for the vices to band-aid the pain.  In their cases (with the exception of Ray) .. DRUGS.  HEAVY.  Organized Noize remained slightly behind the scenes, but did want the credit they deserved (including Ray Murray who was a low key mastermind) as they rightfully should have- including monetary compensation.  The battle of trying to remain humble in an ego driven industry was put to the test.

Yet and still.. their stamp will ALWAYS remain in the hip-hop legend stories .  I mean after all… they made Cell Therapy… and I STILL say for years now… that is in the top 10 of hip-hop beats ever made.  #DontDebateMeOnThis.

If you have not seen it… here’s the trailer below to give you a little taste.  If you’re into music/hip-hop.. watch it.  It’s on Netflix now.

My personal comments (out of order in appearance of the film):

{Personal Post} : Photos/Videos - Governor's Ball Music Festival 2014 - June 6th . #GovBallNYC

This festival was special. Two of the main reasons were: 1. This was the first music festival out of a few that I didn't attend alone.. 2. This was her first time going to a music festival ever. These two worlds collided and had the best fxcking time EVER!! Someone finally got to experience what I was talking about... and appreciated it more than I ever imagined. We shared the exact same sentiments... We rock. I didn't include any photos of mischief prior to us arriving at the festival, but I have some during...along with some videos of Damion Marley, TV on the Radio, and OUTKASTTTT. Here are some of the moments we collectively captured. Take a glimpse into Day 1::

Biggest headphones ever in life
Silent Disco is one of the most creative and dopest things I've ever seen.  Ok so here's how it goes down.  They hand you headphones.  You put them on.  Now only the people with the headphones on can hear what the DJ is playing...
....so meanwhile.. you're walking by and see people straight jammin.. I mean dancing all over the place but hear absolutely nothing (bc  you don't have on the headphones).  Even when the DJ says something on the mic it goes to the headphones so they'll all start putting their hands up at once or whatever etc.  It's the trippiest thing to see.  These photos do no justice for that one.

Video : (Coachella) Nas brings out Jay-Z + Outkast Full Performance

...And argue all day about who's the best MC?
Biggie, Jay-Z, and Nas...

Coachella kicked off its first April series this past weekend with quite a few surprises and stand out performances. Saturday, April 12th, Nas hit the stage. Not only did he bring out Diddy, BUT, he had Hova the gawd join him as well at the perfect moment. You have to watch below to see what I mean. Ill...

Prior to that... On Friday, Outkast reunited and hit the stage. Something fans have been waiting for for a while now. Fxcking awesome to open the set with "B.O.B", but I'm disappointed for them with the semi dry crowd... especiallly since their set list ROCKED. I'll charge it to the game and just say most of them were super stoned at thIS point. Nevertheless, for those who were not able to attend, you can get hype on your own and watch the full set of Andre 3k and Big Boi's performance below along with a few special guests of their own...

Outkast to Reunite onstage at Coachella 2014?

Since 2007, fans have hoped for the day that there would be an Outkast reunion. Almost 7 years later...it seems it may finally be coming into fruition. Perfect timing at its finest considering 2014 will mark the 20th anniversary (April 26th to be exact) of their first album, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik. This is HUGE. According to Billboard:

While there is still speculation regarding Coachella, REVOLT TV confirmed... yes, confirmed, that the Mighty Mighty O will be together once again in 2014. Watch below:

Motivation Mondays...

…that’s if you’re on top of your game
And man enough to handle real life situations that is..

But it all blends perfectly…
Let the liquor tell it.
