Rapper/Actor Big Sean announced via video message that he is adding the title Author to his resume.  The Detroit, MI native gushed excitedly about his upcoming 240 page guidebook on mental wellness-  GO HIGHER: Five Practices for Purpose, Success, and Inner Peace.  It focuses on Sean's personal journey of inward reflection, self-acceptance, and so forth.  Accepting, Strategizing, Trying, Trusting, and Manifesting.

After just premiering the track Monday morning, the visual followed hours later. Khaled gives unintentional comedy similar to that in the ‘Hold you Down’ video. I heard this song a total of three times within one hour on the radio during the commute home yesterday. Undoubtedly, this will be an instant club banger for sure.

Last Sunday, Sean Don announced his third studio album 'Dark Sky Paradise' to the public with the release date of February 24th.  This past Friday, he served up a new offering featuring heavy hitters Kanye West and Drake.  While the song is titled 'Blessings', the production goes with a Dark Sky Paradise theme carrying a looped horror movie like melody under slapped drums.

Last Thursday night, Big Sean announced a shocker move- that he... the GOOD Music front runner (well one of them) signed a management deal with ROC Nation. No further details were really released and/or why he made the decision, but I'm sure it may come out later. In lieu of his big announcement, Sean Don released 4 new tracks Friday afternoon. Big Sean x Kanye West surprise fans during Rick Ross performance on The Arsenio Hall Show

Last night on the Arsenio Hall show, Rick Ross performed "Sanctified" from his latest album 'Mastermind'. The features made a surprise appearance as well. Although, it was obvious that wasn't Rick Ross standing there before they even shined the spotlight on Sean, the turn up was too real when Yeezy hit the stage.

Time Warp ... 1973 : Sour Soul | Pool Pah ("OTTR" Sample / Wiz Khalifa x Currensy x Big Sean) #BlackHistoryMonth

African-Americans created a new form of rhythmic music through a blend of soul music, jazz, and R & B. This new form became known as the genre of Funk. Funk music usually contains rhythm instruments like the electric guitar, electric bass, hammond organ, and drums intertwining to one complex rhythm. Saxophones, trumpets, and trombones are often thrown into the mix as well.
Developed in the early 60's and evolved in the late 60s - early 70s, Funk music skyrocketed through Black artists like James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, George Clinton/Parliament, Con Funk Shun, Stevie Wonder and more. It was in the 70s where the era of funk became mainstream.
Not only was Funk music in the U.S., it also disseminated to Africa to form what is known as 'AfroBeat' (a term coined by Nigerian Musician, Fela Kuti... who is said to have been heavily influenced by James Brown's music). Several different forms developed of Funk music : Funk Rock, Boogie, Electro Music, Go-Go which are still pertinent in the music world today.

Sean Don delivers an intense thriller visual for track ‘Ashley’ (an ode to his ex girlfriend) off his current album, Hall of Fame. This storyline, written and directed by Ellis Bahl, showcases ultimate revenge from an ex girlfriend to Sean in a series of events that will have you drawn to the vid from start to finish. They did a great job with executing the concept (and Sean’s ‘acting’ skills).

Oddly, even with The Game just signing to Cash Money Records, label mate/front runner Lil Wayne did not make an appearance in the video for his verse. Scheduling conflict, maybe? Anywho... The Game gives us an early 90s visual feel (which blends perfect with the 90 sample) for his new ladies geared single. Jesus Piece is in stores now...
