Quick time travel back to December 2009.  Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton played together on the Washington Wizards NBA Basketball Team.  They made headlines then not for a game, but for an inside confrontation.  The dispute over gambling debts escalated to a point where Arenas brought guns into the locker room.  So what really happened?  NETFLIX unpacks the infamous story in their upcoming documentary.

{Personal Post} PHOTOS: Yaddiya "HOYA$" Georgetown Pop-Up

Washington D.C's own, Justin "Yaddiya" Johnson, hosted a pop-up shop and record release party for his new album, HOYA$.  The celebration was held at Yaddiya's 1223 Potomac Gallery art space in the busy streets of Georgetown.   Serenaded with sounds from his new album on loop and classic Georgetown basketball games projected on tv screens, the event featured art from "Hoya Paranoia: Black America's Team" with pieces by Jermaine "jET" Carter, Corey Ramon Gibson, and Krown Aim.

Meet Alonzo "Lonnie" Clayton: The Youngest Jockey to Win the Kentucky Derby #BlackHistoryMonth

Born in Kansas City, MO on January 4, 1876, Alonzo "Lonnie" Clayton had a reputation for being 'exceptionally bright'.   One of nine siblings, Clayton joined his brother Albertus, who was a Jockey for Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin in Chicago, IL.  After starting as an exercise rider, he debuted as a Jockey in 1890 in Clifton, NJ.  He won the Jerome Stakes and Champagne Stakes in 1891.  The following year, Alonzo "Lonnie" Clayton made history.

Academy Award winning actress, Whoopi Goldberg, has collaborated with JungoTV and CommonSpirit Health to present the first television platform dedicated solely to female athletes, teams, and leagues across the globe.  AWSN (All Women's Sports Network) aims to not only provide visibility, but also, celebrate women's achievements that are often overshadowed by male-dominated sports.

The current 'fastest woman of the world' has conquered any obstacle thrown her way and continues running upward.  Ahead of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, it is announced that Sha'Carri Richardson is a new Brand Ambassador for OLAY.  This is her first beauty partnership and surrounds OLAY's cleansing melts-- water activated cleansing squares that dissolve and 'melt' away sweat, makeup, excess oil, and sunscreen.

Serving on and off the court.  Legendary and Record Breaking Tennis Player, Serena Williams, has launched her own makeup line- WYN Beauty.  The line was developed with the idea of makeup 'you can move in' and contains clean, high-performing ingredients that improves the skin.   

The brand's color is Chartreuse, which represents energy and audacity.  It, also, undeniably is the color of a tennis ball.  Great play.

Home Court: The LeBron James Museum is Opening Very Soon

Snoop Dogg and Son Launch Gaming Company in Support of Minority Creators

Snoop Dogg and his son, Cordell Broadus, plan to pave an accessible lane for minorities in the gaming industry.  "Death Row Games" is now a studio for minority creators to design, develop, and publish content within the mega game Fortnite by way of its Unreal Editor.  

...And I keep saying 'show representation of the culture in these sectors,' versus us just being the talent. We wanted to make sure that we're part of the decision that's being made and more importantly tell these stories from diverse creators and focus on creatives in underserved communities. 

For the past 6 years, Snoop and Cordell have been quietly creating games, but have not published anything on a large scale.

Congrats are in order for these two players apart of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame!  Another victory.  Shaquille O'Neal- four time NBA Champion x 15 time All-Star and Allen Iverson- 11 time All-Star and four time NBA Scoring Champion, are now the President and Vice President of the Reebok basketball brand.  Shaq as President will head the brand's strategy and partnerships; A.I. as Vice President will assist with player recruitment and community based initiatives.

It's 2001.  Allen Iverson is a powerhouse icon, Larry Brown is coach of the year, and the Philadelphia 76ers are in a 10-0 season so far.  Fast forward, they reach the NBA Finals to face the Los Angeles Lakers.  Game 1 held the historic Iverson step over Tyronn Lue.  That's the fluff version of this tale though.

 Comprised player interviews, media, fans, and NBA front office accounts of this particular season allow us a deeper look; a 90-Minute documentary of this unforgettable time in basketball history.

{Watch/Trailer}- SHOWTIME presents... "STAND" : the Courageous Story of NBA Player, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf

There are few professional athletes who not only make history, but change the course of the sport forever.  Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, formerly known as Chris Jackson, is one of them.  In recent years, athletes have kneeled during the singing of the National Anthem to display efforts of protest against social injustice and so forth.  Chatter for sure, but todays battle are a new day.  The year is 1996 and chatter now was controversy then.  

 In the early 90s, Chris Jackson converted to Islam and changed his name to Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.  Later... Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf made headlines when he refused to stand for the National Anthem before games as an act of protest and displayed Islamic prayer.  He felt the (National Anthem) praise towards the flag was a symbol of oppression amongst other tyrant acts.  Not much has changed huh?  While standing firm in his beliefs (when it wasn't popular), he was greeted with boos, aggressive hate, fines, suspensions, and ultimately... blackballed from the NBA.  Catch the trailer for his compelling life story after the jump!
