The Live Version of the Song is ALWAYS Superior to the Original (Pt. 1)

Tony Krash/Badu World

Can you believe this draft has been sitting since 2022?  I was vibing the other week and had a light bulb reminder.  I never published it!  What better time than now?  Half of the U.S. is snowed in today.
Live versions are unique.  Typically filled with vivaciousness and exclusivity to that specific performance in all aspects.   It takes a special kind of everything to put a live song in the category of being considered better than the original/studio version.  That special thing where you prefer to hear the live version instead.  The common denominator is simply this.  It contains soul that the original just does not acquire.

For instance...

Marvin Gaye - Distant Lover
Could be the screams.. could be the horns... could be the yearning.  It's. just. there.

You don't know what you're missing
you might lose my attention...

Matt Martians takes a stroll with fellow band members Syd and Steve Lacy down LA streets for the visual of the up-temp smooth 'Dent Jesay'.  Matt's album, DrumChordTheory, dropped this past Friday/yesterday and it is friggin awesome.  Considerable repetitive rotation on my end.  Catch the vid below and another track from the album, 'Diamond in the Ruff/Feelin', after the jump!

Video : Get Away | The Internet

#LatePost
Roll up an L and light it
Let's go to space...

The Internet's latest visual from Ego Death.  I have to save all commentary before it ends up like Shadow Dance.  However, I will say the video brings vibesssss in different matters.  Check it out::

Chilling :: Watch Tyler, the Creator's new video "Buffalo/Find Your Wings"

The video still above alone is compelling enough to produce a chill.  Tyler drops a new dual visual from his 'Cherry Bomb' album.  The video begins with 'Buffalo' in a new mixed sound were Tyler is in white face.. being hung by an angry mob of black people.  Later, he wipes his face off to reveal a black face which causes a different reaction.  No matter your interpretation of it all, it's sure to hold your attention the entire duration.. with a racing mind of trying to figure it out.
When the video switches into 'Find your Wings' .. it switches into a completely different feel (like that of the song) and channels a episode of 'Soul Train', if you will.  His creative genes keep expanding.  Watch below ::
Sidebar- if you're watching on your phone... watch the Buffalo part again with invert colors.  It's just as insane.

Video :: Girl | The Internet x KAYTRANADA

If I told you that you rock my world..
I want you around me...
Would you let me call you my girl??

The Internet's new album, Ego Death, drops in exactly 7 days.  Today, they bring us a new single AND video. "Girl" featuring KAYTRANADA is smooth ass cut about admiration for a certain girl whose worth you value (amongst other things), though the track takes a quick turn at the end.
They are 2 for 2 with the album cut releases.
Watch the cosmic/trippy visual (and listen to the extended version) below::

The Internet announces new album + releases new track "Special Affair"

This' a special affair
better act like you know
who I am...

The Internet promised us new music via their Twitter account yesterday.  Promise kept.  Not only did they release a new sexy R&B track called 'Special Affair', but they announced their new album titled EgoDeath.  That will arrive sooner than you think; it drops June 30th.  This album is co-produced by Grammy winning producer Jimmy Douglas and features collabs with the likes of Vic Mensa, Tyler the Creator, Kaytranada, and more.

"If you look back at the '70s, it used to be fun...
...Look at all those old bands that used to make serious music, they used to be on the covers with bitches! Let’s be real, like, they were flexed up. It got serious because it went underground. That’s what we’re trying to bring back: that feeling of, you got a band that you can relate to, that’s your homeboys, you could hang with them, but they make a kind of music that’s respected at the same time." – Matt Martians/The Internet via the Fader.

UK producers, Snakehips, released new tunes Friday featuring The Internet's lead singer, Syd.
Syd's mellow voice over the cosmic bounce flavor mesh exceedingly well together.  Snakehips' upcoming EP, Forever (Pt. II), is slated to drop on March 9th.

#LatePost.  Due to the insane lineup... i HAD to go this time around.  Oh the elements.  I had SOOOO Much fun.  I was genuinely in the best mood ever and enjoyed more than I can express.  Everyone ROCKED their set.   Taco and his homie showing some love to a G in passing while I was in my zone (dancing & rapping to Mac's 'Watching Movies' to be exact) ;-) added the icing on the cake.  I snap photos in between times of awesomeness to capture the memories.. and to also share with those who couldn't make it.  'Summer fun' in November.  Enjoy!

Video : Shadow Dance | The Internet

The night is young
Your taste is sweet
Lay with me
Until we find...

The Internet took it to RevoltTV last night to premiere their new video ‘Shadow Dance’ from the awesome Feel Good album. In black and white tint, the video most certainly executes the sexiness and smoothness of the song. Sure to make you feel some type of way. Check it out below::
‘Tell me that you love me babe'

There are times when I’m completely weirded out of how closely, countenance and mannerism wise, Syd resembles my ex. This is one of those times o_o.

Pleasure | Tay Walker ( of 'The Internet' )

Cause when my body kissin on ya'
It can show ya'
The very best time of your life...

New music from Tay Walker (of the Internet) has hit the waves :-D. The sultry sounds of his voice intertwined with the bedroom material production heightens the intimate lyrics to a 'just right' degree. Tay even shows off and adds his rap skills to this one (as he does every now and then). Yes.25 Hours a Day is coming...
Listen below::
"Them other girls got nothing on ya, no competition..."

{Personal Post} 'The Internet' Spring Tour.. DC show.

I kept telling Dirt .. you HAVE to see The Internet live. You think their music is great??? Wait until you hear them live. Just ranting and raving about their performances you know. They always shut down the house (any time I’ve seen them). After the announcement of this tour, I bought my ticket IMMEDIATELY the moment I saw it posted. I didn’t realize the location until later…. (o_o)
Interesting location at that. It was at a Jewish Synagogue. A Synagogue I’ve walked by several times and never paid any mind to. That was until last night. The pews (yep.. pews) filled up with fans and media a little short of 9 when the show was set to start. To all of our surprise, the show started at 9 on the dot.

I can finally say, someone else got the chance to roll with me and experience their live show. They (Dirt) were impressed and ecstatic about the music as I knew they would be! They KILLED it. The transitions from song to song were executed flawlessly, something I’ve never seen done to that point of perfection and I’m an avid concert goer. The band accompanying Syd’s lovely lovely voice had us all in a trance. Dancing.. singing.. laughing… it was a great time. Not only did they perform songs from Purple Naked Ladies and Feel Good, but they hit “Tape You” by. NERD, Senorita/JT, Outstanding/Gap Band (Charlie Wilson) etc. Just straight killing it in every form and fashion. You can tell by the way I’m delivering this story that I’m still hyped about it.
Syd went hard and performed the jam ‘She DGAF’ in the church lol (father forgive us).. and while I (and others) figured hey.. you already stepped out there.. perform ‘Cocaine’! and ‘Garden!’ and all other songs we started yelling out towards the stage.. we suddenly found out, it wouldn’t happen. It was the end of the show  A full one hour set. On at 9 on the dot. Off at 10 on the dot. A tad bit bummed, but not nearly unsatisfied, we packed up and started heading out. Little did I know… the night was only about to get better.
Not only did we meet the (humble) bass player to tell him what a fascinating job he did up there, I met Matt and Syd! I said something crazy (well being myself lol) which is why Syd is cracking up in one of the pics. I always have the most random yet normal conversations with artists lol (I can’t help it), but I don’t regret them and they are moments I’ll never forget. Especially this one. Syd is one of the coolest down to earth artists I have EVER met out of anyone over the years and that’s word. Fans showed em love.. and they showed crazy love back (including the keyboardist with the cool ass Raiden hat who was also chopping it up with fans after the show.) Check out some of the photos I was able to snap :
(Sn:..I still haven’t learned yet to stop trying to take pictures while dancing smh.)

Better Liar | Harry Fraud x The Internet

Should've been a better liar babe...

SHIT.  Harry Fraud and The Internet teamed up for a spectacular live instrument production of a record about lies and deceit.  If it sounds this amazing live.. one can only imagine how it sounds in person.   I hope they perform this when I go see them later this month.  This track lands on the Converse compilation "Cons EP Vol. 1".  Vibe out::
"All my trust for you disappeared.."

Pod Post Thursdays : Karma | Tay Walker (of 'The Internet')

I need the strength to walk away
And need not to state
The issue is…that I miss you baby.

"I wanted little pieces of things in it that makes you think 'why is life full of games. I know what it's like to have my heart broken and so does the world. This video is the exact feeling of that. This video shows how love can leave you alone with a lot of time on your hands to think about the games that are played between two people in love." – Tay Walker

The video and this song is a mood changer; “brown liquor song” for sure. You may have recognized Tay Walker’s name from his songs with ‘The Internet’ (he is a vocalist and the keyboardist in the group). I couldn’t deny his voice then.. and I damn sure can’t deny it on this solo track…Major talent. The soul. The rips. The emotion.
This will fall on his upcoming solo project ’25 Hours a Day’, set for release sometime during the Spring, featuring collabs with Casey Veggies, Mac Miller, Syd tha Kyd, Harry Fraud and more. I’m definitely looking forward to it. In the meantime…check out his latest solo effort below:

Video: Dontcha | The Internet

Cause I just gotta know if you want me too...
Don't you want me??...

This is the sole reason I stayed up past 10 tonight (especially with having a bad evening)... awaiting the release of their new visual/track for the official first single from their upcoming album, Feel Good, that drops September 24th.  Thankfully, they kept their word and delivered right on time..LITERALLY.  :-).  My night is complete.
Rock out...
